Celebrity Planet: Natalie Portman Helps Heidi Klum Go Green

Now in its fifth season, Heidi Klum's Project Runway is still going strong — and even Natalie Portman is a fan.

The actress appeared on the Bravo program this week to judge designs made from environmentally-clean fabrics. Poor Wesley was sent packin' for making a cheap-looking eco-friendly design, while Nat praised Suede's cocktail dress and told him that she could see herself wearing it.

Natalie was a great pick as guest judge as she's a vegan footwear designer who created a shoe collection in collaboration with Te Casan. But the actress actually got her start as an environmentalist early on when she joined an environmental song and dance troupe known as The World Patrol Kids. As part of the group, she'd sings songs with lyrics that included "recycle it" and "renew it" and even shared a funny clip of herself in action when she visited David Letterman.

Speaking of eco-chic clothing, a lot of stars have been rockin' them this week, including Kim Kardashian who was photographed with a shirt proclaiming that "Green is the New Black." Cuter though was Calista Flockhart's 7-year-old son, Liam, who was snapped in an airport clutching his teddy bear while wearing a shirt with Earth on it. Being Harrison Ford's kinda stepson must be rubbing off on the boy. After all, Harrison even waxed his chest for the environment!

And while stars like Lindsay Lohan are pushing the option to recycle clothes or clothes swap, Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend, model Bar Refaeli, just says no to wearing used goods. The co-host of Tommy Hilfiger Presents Ironic Iconic America recently said that "used stuff" isn't her thing. "I don't even shop at secondhand clothes stores," she told a Page Six spy. Well, at least she rides her bike often and participates in eco-friendly photo shoots. She's doing her part!

Little Bindi Irwin — who turned 10 this week — has a TV show, clothing line, album and that won't be all. The late Steve Irwin's daughter is getting her own talking doll. The figure will look just like her — down to the khakis and pigtails — and will say things like "You can make the world a better place" and "Let's go help wildlife." A portion of the doll, that will retail for $15 to $20, will fund efforts to breed endangered species and rescue animals.

Before Matthew McConaughey's baby boy arrived, we talked about how his partner Camila Alves was working on the cleanest, most eco-friendly baby nursery you can imagine. This week, the surfing fanatic and all-round outdoorsman debuted little Levi in OK! magazine, for which they received a pretty penny, and talked about how he's ready to teach his son how to surf. The baby already has a little wet suit!

Matthew also discussed his charity — the j.k. livin foundation — that has programs working at two high schools in Los Angeles. "We work on decision-making, education and getting kids into the outdoors," said Matt.

Actress Chloe Sevigny, one of my faves from Big Love, was going green before you even though about it. Well, maybe not, but she tells EcoStiletto that she has been recycling and composting since she was just a wee child growing up in her tony Connecticut neighborhood. I gotta give the girl credit — she rattled off a list of all the eco-friendly things she does and she buries me. She even hang-dries her clothes! Compare your greeness to her greeness in this recent interview.

See ya next week!
