As I mentioned, most web sites have a page that you can return to. Again, make use of this hi-tech tool (the Internet) and make it easier for the user. Or if that is too difficult, make the coupon stand out more. If they were gold letters they may not be easy for everyone to see right away. And if we don't see that, why would we save that page?
Not all of us have time to sit here and read web sites all day. In fact, most of us have many, many, web sites we frequently use and visit on a regular basis in a little bit of time. Contrary to the one complainer who seems to have ample time to read every single word on every page they go to, most of us don't. Imagine spending 30 seconds on every page you come across - that can add up! Imagine spending that much time at your computer, I'd rather be out biking or doing Yoga.
I enjoy Yoga, it has helped me physically and I enjoy Yee's videos. That is how I found your site. I thought I would try it out and since I saw the coupon it was an added bonus. But it does seem a bit bogus having to go through all this. And according to statistics, very few users come back if they have to hassle with using a web site. The coupon is not a big deal. I don't see anything that I can't get somewhere else.
There appear to be a lot of problems around this web site, not just the forum. As developer, I tend to fix the problems rather than argue excuses and lose customers. Even this funky little box I am typing in has problems.
The email you just posted is the one that does not work. Of course, you probably have no problem sending an email to it, I imagine you are on the same domain.
Good luck,
Steve

Steve:
I'm not sure of what you mean when you refer to "most websites have a page that you can return to." If you are speaking of registration confirmation pages - my experience has been that most expire and to the contrary - one cannot return. Ours does not, and can be returned to if necessary.
The coupon was made to stand out more - but we cannot control whether a user decides to read the confirmation page or not. And I only mentioned saving the page because you appeared to be concerned with using paper to write down the code.
I appreciate the fact that you say that you don't have time to sit around and read websites all day. I'm sure we all can agree that we feel the same. However, I didn't imply or suggest that was what you needed to do in order to receive the coupon code upon registering for our site.
I'm glad you enjoy Rodney's videos and they are helpful to you. I'm sorry if you felt that there was any hassle in trying to redeem your coupon. Nevertheless, we try to avoid any hassles by including the coupon on the registration confirmation page.
As with any website, we do have our fair share of bugs. If you have encountered any issues in addition to the contents of this thread not displaying, please let us know and I'll be glad to report them. Also, if you can describe the errors you are receiving when attempting to send a message to our community e-mail, I'll be glad to help you further.
Lastly, I am sorry if you felt that I was arguing with you or making excuses - I can assure that is completely contrary to my intentions. You reported not recalling a coupon or the Thank You page, and I described when they both appear. I replied to your post thoroughly so others that have registered for the site and may have missed the page or closed it accidentally can know where the coupon is displayed.
Again, thank you for writing and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you further.

Joe,
It is interesting that you are expecting people to fully read your thank you page yet you don't seem to be reading or trying to understand these messages.
I'll try to make it simple:
I have yet to see you post a link to this thank you page so one can get their code. Which is what I meant that most web sites have a page where you can view your account, balances, etc. Why not put the code there? Or somehwere that is easy to find again.
You ignored the email issue.
This little box must have javascript controling it. It hesitates occasionally and is really messed up when you try to paste in text. The text area is actually larger than the box itself so you have to scroll sideways. Pain in the rear.
There are several links that bring up errors which I already mentioned elsewhere.
To me it is an excuse when all one does it try to explain away the issue and not fix it.
I am also not getting paid for this and have spent too much time trying to help. Do what you want with it.

Steve,
I'm sensing your tone as overly confrontational, to the degree that you are not understanding that your complaints are quite vague.
The Gaiam community site and the Gaiam.com sites are on two separate content management systems / platforms. User accounts are not tied in any way together. The former is a content site, and the latter is a commerce site. This is why there isn't an account history or stored balances. Registering for an account here provides access to post comments on the site and participate on the forums.
I hope that clears up the confusion.
Also, I don't post the link to the Thank You page for multiple reasons, most important of which is to prevent abuse of the code for the discount that is given to registered users. You also did not mention that I have already personally delivered the code to you in an e-mail.
I'm not sure what you meant when you said I "ignored" the e-mail issue. You said that the e-mail "bounces back." I'm sorry, but that isn't specific enough, and I'm not sure what kind of errors you are receiving back from our mail server, so I can't diagnose the problem.
Regarding the WYSIWYG editor issue - I cannot duplicate the problems you are encountering in Firefox nor Internet Explorer, and this is the first time anyone has reported a problem with the text editor. Again, I'm not sure what operating system you are using, nor what browser, so I can't immediately help you there.
Lastly, there hasn't been one excuse provided to you in this conversation. I have simply requested information from you and offered to help you further. If you are unwilling to cooperate or explain what is occurring in a way that facilitates our understanding of your experience, there is not much that I can do to help.
Thanks,
- Joe |

Joe,
I may sound confrontational because you refuse to accept the fact that maybe some of us users (if you go back and read this entire thread you will see that I am not the only one who has had problems with your web site) do not see things the same way you do. Not that it matters but I don't see anywhere, including the terms and conditions, where the two sites are separate and there is no distinct separation.
Speaking of terms and conditions which state
"Term and Termination. This Agreement shall remain in full force and effect while you use the Website or are a Member. You may terminate your membership at any time, for any reason, by following the instructions on the Profile page."
The only link I have found is My Profile and I sure don't see any instructions on how a user terminates his or her membership.
I started out by trying to help but at this point all I can say this is the first time I have had such problems and resistance from any web site and it is just not worth it.
I think it may be a good time to stop trying to always be right and try to listen. Seems that should follow some form of Yoga philosophy.
Good luck,
Steve

I don't know why I am doing this, maybe I feel sorry for you.
But before I leave I believe I have found your email problem
This is what it says in the terms and conditions
community@gaiam.com
But you insist on adding gaiam. in front of it in all of your responses including the email you sent me.
I always try to save face by thoroughly checking my facts before I respond.
Good luck, Steve

Steve,
I appreciate your suggestion. However, the e-mail address Gaiam.Community@gaiam.com is a working address and I receive messages directed to it each day. The address you posted above is an alternate one that goes to the same inbox.
Thanks,
- Joe
