Hi, All,

I definitely feel its an alarming time for us to contribute save our earth. Personally I have been using environment  friendly products in ma day to day life.

Professionally also, my organisation has come up with an idea of creating the awareness through a Green Energy Summit  (http://www.greenenergysummit.com) to be held in India in the right place...I mean in the  'Renewable Energy Hub' aka Bangalore the Garden City of India and also the Silicon Valley of India.

A first-of-its-kind summit in India, GES 2008 will focus on Green Power
(Solar, Wind, PV, Smart Grids, Solar Thermal Power, Hydro Power, Biomass),
Green IT, Green Buildings, and Green Fuels & Transportation. The summit
will go beyond exploring path breaking initiatives, technologies and
products, by focusing on solutions that will accelerate the production and
adoption of viable, non-polluting forms of energy. It will encourage
face-to-face exchange of ideas, recognise green achievers, provide
showcasing and match making opportunities for suppliers and buyers, and
deliver beyond the class room experiences.

Green Energy Expo 2008 to be held parallel to the summit will feature
hundreds of exhibitors from across the following sectors:

* Industry/vendors/material and equipment manufacturers, integrators and
investors from Solar, Photovoltaics, Wind, Thermal Energy, Hydro,
Biofuels, Renewable Heating, and Clean Coal, among others

* Green Builders and Architects from the construction industry, showcasing
their projects, integrated green communities, green building materials,
materials recycling, sustainable construction transport, among others

* Green Material and Equipment Manufacturers from the areas of Eco Paints,
Sound Protection Panels, Smart Buildings and Controls, Wood burning
stoves, Rain Water Collectors, Energy-efficient Insulation, Solar heating,
Fluid-applied Membrane Systems, Green Illumination, among others

* Law Firms from the areas of Energy Audits & Surveys

* Enterprise Hardware and Software Technology Vendors, Data Center
Vendors, Semiconductor Companies, Virtualization, Consolidation, and
Storage Vendors, Green IT Compliance Vendors and Consultants, Equipment
Take-back and Disposal programs

* Vendors from Green Fuel, Batteries, and Transportation sector including
Biodiesel and Ethanol Manufacturers, Automobile Vendors, Mass Transit
Equipment Manufacturers, Lightweight Material Manufacturers, Hybrids,
among others

* Financial institutions, Banks, Private Investors, Entrepreneurs, Venture
Capitalists

* Government and Regulatory Bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations,
Environmental Organizations, Renewable Energy Associations

* Green Lifestyle, Accessories, Food Manufacturers and Suppliers

Hope this makes an interesting read for you all.

Cheers, Poonam

I'm cutting back on meat consumption. I've planted 3 fruit trees and a few vegetables in my back yard.  I've started buying organic produce. I just bought a Prius hybrid. I insulated my house, installed a 3KW solar electric system, solar hot water, replaced nearly all my lights with LED or flourescent lights, replaced the clotheswasher, dishwaser and fridge with efficient models. I dry most clothes on racks from realgoods.com, distill water to cut down on buying bottled water, put most everything on power strips (and turn the strips off when not in use). I've put motion-activated solar-powered lights around my house.  I've cleaned out my closets and garage and donated or recycled several carloads of stuff. I've started using SeventhGeneration paper and cleaning products.  I occasionally skip the commute and work from home (need to do this more!). I've started taking my own bags when I shop, and I've started taking a lunch to work.  And yes, it's still not nearly enough. I just can't give up my car or get myself to move to where I work. I've got a long way to go to properly green up my yard, to restrain my buying habits and get rid of the gallon-a-day commute to work.

I try not to deplete anything involving natural resources, not even energy. Most times inthe store I'll use as little bags as possible if I use them at all, etc. etc.
