Excellent links! Not the actual studies, but, good food for thought. I particularly like the women to women article and the article from the Stanford researcher.
I think that it is interesting that the focus of most of the information regarding hormone use is focused on death and cancer risk. I think that it is important to look at overall satisfaction from a quality of life perspective when using any medication. That includes physical benefits and side effects, mental/emotional/behavioral side effects or benefits, and risk of fatal illness from all causes, i.e., heart disease, stroke (blood clots), and cancers. In my opinion, this is a very complex issue that is very likely different for each person. I suppose that is why I like the women to women article that suggested more a more holistic approach and life long look at hormone use/exposure.
There are several new large studies out of the UK regarding HRT and risk of ovarian cancer and a look at the recent drop in cancer rates in the US attributed to mammogram saturation and HRT use reduction.
Search under "hormone replacement therapy cancer risk" and separately "estrogen cancer risk"
