Brace yourselves: Madonna is going to be everywhere this year. The 49-year-old megastar has a new album, Hard Candy, in the works and a tour to support it, so she'll be giving loads of interviews to sell herself.
The album isn't out until April 29 and she's already a cover girl — Vanity Fair picked her to grace their third annual Green Issue. And while she doesn't talk about how she tries to conserve energy (in her loads of homes around the world) or how she makes Lourdes and Rocco drink organic milk and eat organic produce, she talk about the charity work she's been doing in Malawi, the birthplace of youngest son David.
"If you've got one iota of compassion, you can't ignore what’s going on," Madge said of Africa. "You have to figure out a way to be a part of the solution."
Save a tree and read the whole interview here.
Kate Hudson is also all over the place — mostly the covers of celebrity gossip magazines which tout her rekindled romance with Owen Wilson. But her love life isn't the only thing keeping her busy — this summer she'll debut an organic hair care line with the help of celebrity stylist David Babaii. The products will be free of nasty things such as sulfates and parabens and they won't test on animals. Speaking of animals, 10 percent of the proceeds will to the global wildlife conservation organization WildAid.
Check out the making of the ad campaign, which was shot in Africa. Gorgeous pics.
The ultraglam Thandie Newton, whose movie Run Fatboy Run is now in theaters, says vintage is "in" and mass manufacturing of clothing is "out."
Thandie Newton in Run Fatboy Run
"It is grotesque how out of control manufacturing has become," she tells USA Today, "and the excess, the pollution that's caused by it. Vintage is not only glorious and stylish, it's also the way forward in terms of recycling," she says. "Whenever I go into great vintage stores, I wonder why we ever buy new things."
I like the way you think, Thandie, though I can think of one "new thing" that's always essential — undergarments. I wouldn't pick them up at a second-hand store... especially in Hollywood.
Only 15, Miley Cyrus can't drive until November, but when that day comes she's playing it, well, smart. A custom smart car was made for the teen sensation... though it remains to be seen whether it's for pleasure cruising or promotion because it says "Miley - Girl's Night Out" on the side. It's supercute though.
Lastly, Beyonce and Jay-Z filed for a marriage license this week in Scarsdale, NY. According to spies, they rolled up in an entourage of three Escalades and entered the clerk's office to fill out the paperwork... while the SUVs idled outside. While I wish them well — they could me married as early as this weekend — I find their need for a 3-car caravan unnecessary. So to really show them (ha!), I've decided not to send them a wedding gift.
I'm sure they'll be heartbroken.
